From Tokyo to Mount Fuji

Faret Tachikawa
Faret Tachikawa opened on the site of a former US army base, near the north exit of Tachikawa Station on the JR Chuo line, in October 1994. This art exhibition, which features 109 artworks by 92 artists from 36 countries, is divided into five areas in this office-building district. The district is home to 11 major buildings, including Palace Hotel Tachikawa, Tachikawa Takashimaya Department Store, Cinema City (movie-theater complex), Josei Sogo Center I'm, the Central Library and Sompo Japan.

National Showa Kinen Park
National Showa Kinen Park, created in celebration of the 50th year of the reign of Emperor Showa, opened in 1983. Established on the theme of "restoring green spaces and improving livability," National Showa Kinen Park is so large it is impossible to take in the whole park in one day. Numerous people use and enjoy the park on a daily basis.

Suwa Jinja
Suwa Jinja is a Shinto shrine enshrined in Tachikawa that has 1,200 years of tradition and pedigree. Gracing the shores of Lake Suwa, it is said to be the home of Takeminakata-no-Kami, the god of victory and second divine son of Okuninushi, the god of magic and medicine.
Renowned as a deity of ferocious courage, Takeminakata-no-Kami was formerly revered at Shinshu Suwa Taisha shrine in Shinano Province (now in Nagano Prefecture), but was moved to the outskirts of Tachikawa Shibasaki village (now Suwa-no-Mori Park) in 811.
